Rene Descartes wrote, “I think therefore I am.” Mindfulness allows us to realize that “I am therefore I think.” When we become aware that we are, before any other aspect of our being, essential energy, existing in individual bodies, but still connected as a part of the greater reality of the universe, we are able to access those qualities within ourselves that allow us to act and react peacefully and productively, with empathy and compassion toward self and others. When we are mindful, we treat each breath as a blessing and each moment as a gift to be cherished and shared.

​Practicing meditation and stress reduction—centering and gathering your energy source—will help you to gain control over your individual vital energy core. Awareness of the energy that is your essential self through practicing these exercises will increase your ability to access mindfulness in any given moment. This awareness will help you on your path of developing connections with others and working toward peaceful coexistence through compassion and empathy.

Pathways to Mindfulness guides participants through meditation and stress reduction techniques and encourages the awareness of the connection between people to build and nurture community. Presentations are available for organizations, schools, businesses, civic groups, and professional associations and are facilitated by experts in mindfulness modalities.

While the book serves as a useful guide to mindfulness practices, the full impact of the program can only be realized by the presentation of the material in a group setting.
